    Stroke refers to impaired blood supply to the brain due to clot formation or tears in blood vessels. This may lead to permanent loss of function depending upon the part of the brain that is damaged and the severity of the damage. About 795,000 U.S. natives experience stroke annually, accounting for more than 140,000 deaths annually (Stroke Awareness Foundation, 2019). This assessment deals with stroke as a clinical practice issue in which a novice nurse needs more comprehensive knowledge and necessitates locating credible databases and research. As a baccalaureate-prepared nurse, I must assist her in researching the given diagnosis and plan the best care for the patient with stroke. 

    Communication and Collaboration Strategies for Nurses 

    To begin assisting nurses with stroke research, it is vital to incorporate communication and collaboration strategies that encourage nurses to research the diagnosis and facilitate accessing resources. The communication strategies include fostering an environment conducive to transparent and open communication, encouraging them to inquire about research without reluctance. This will integrate inclusiveness and expand their knowledge as they learn tools for effective research using credible resources. Additionally, creating research-oriented group chats on social media such as WhatsApp or WeChat can promote the exchange of research-based knowledge, which improves communication on evidence-based research (DeJong et al., 2020).

    Furthermore, communication can be enhanced using a common language understandable by novice nurses to ensure they are on the same learning point and follow your instructions on locating credible resources. The collaboration strategies to access resources for research include establishing a research support team, such as IT personnel involvement and healthcare professionals that help nurses access research resources using different databases, journals, and research libraries. Regular meetings on research findings and their implications in nursing practices will enhance collaboration and communication on the latest research on healthcare practice issues (Cinar et al., 2020).

    Incorporating these strategies for communicating and collaborating with novice nurses will develop solid professional competence among them as they learn from senior nurses through their expert advice and teaching skills. Moreover, novice nurses acquire professional insight with the help of these strategies as they learn research skills and ways to make patient care plans using research data. These strategies also build positive professional relationships as the communication barriers are resolved and a bond of trust and collaboration is fostered, leading to better care coordination (Arnold & Boggs, 2020). 

    The Best Places to Complete Research within the Workplace

    To complete research within the workplace, it is crucial to identify the best places that facilitate the research process. Some of the best places within the workplace can be hospital libraries, hospital computer labs with adequate access to the internet and databases, and research rooms with online libraries, particularly for healthcare providers to conduct research.

    Types of Resources and Benefits of Utilizing the Places for Research 

     The hospital libraries are furnished with ample research-related materials such as research journals on stroke and its rehabilitation, research magazines on stroke, and medical books with in-depth information on stroke, its causes, and ways to manage it. By using these libraries, nurses can gather a plethora of credible evidence on treating patients who suffered from a stroke in the past. The hospital computer labs provide nurses with online access to the hospital’s policies and procedure guidelines related to the concerned topic, for example,  stroke pathways, stroke care and management, and other healthcare issues, which they can utilize to probe into encountered healthcare issues and find solutions acceptable and widely used within the organization.

    The research rooms with online libraries not only progress research but also foster an environment for nurses to communicate on research topics and identify the best possible evidence-based practice solutions for healthcare issues. The reason to utilize the places within hospitals to research is to provide patient-centered care immediately as nurses may need help with particular issues or treatments, which they can research in the same setting and provide treatments without any delays, preventing potential adverse effects.

    The Five Credible Sources for Stroke 

    Nurses must utilize credible sources of information for healthcare practice issues to ensure patients receive evidence-based care. The five credible sources are derived from credible websites and medical journal databases to treat stroke. The five credible sources include the “American Stroke Association,” “Stroke Recovery and Rehabilitation Roundtable,” the “International Journal of Stroke,” “Stroke Research and Treatment,” and “Stroke and Vascular Neurology”. These resources are ranked from the most useful for nurses to the least. Moreover, medical journal databases such as PubMed, Cochrane, and CINAHL provide diverse medical literature on stroke and other healthcare. The most helpful resource for nurses is the American Stroke Association (ASA) website, which mainly deals with stroke management and guidelines on stroke prevention. Nurses can use an amalgam of these sources for stroke to obtain well-researched and comprehensive data on stroke management.

    Why Should the Selected Sources Provide the Best Evidence?

    The chosen five sources should provide the best evidence on stroke as it is the center of attraction of these databases and websites. The medical journal “Stroke and Vascular Neurology” provides original research and short reports on stroke and its treatment. Furthermore, the sources, including the “International Journal of Stroke,” “Stroke Recovery and Rehabilitation Roundtable,” and “Stroke Research and Treatment,” provide the latest research on managing the consequences of stroke in terms of prevalence, causes of stroke, and rehabilitation of stroke. These sources include up-to-date research articles, clinical studies, case studies,  and comprehensive evidence on stroke diagnosis, treatment, and outcomes.

    Furthermore, the American Stroke Association provides evidence-based guidelines critically probed by various healthcare providers specialized in stroke (American Stroke Association, 2019). Therefore, these sources should provide the best evidence for diagnosing, treating, and managing stroke. The credibility of these sources, including websites and journals on stroke, can be evaluated using CRAAP criteria. The CRAAP is an acronym for currency, relevance, authority, accuracy, and purpose. This criterion can effectively evaluate whether the above source is credible (Portillo et al., 2021).

    These sources provide currently published research-based data on stroke and have been revised with continuous research. Moreover, the sources are particularly relevant to stroke and its management. The authors providing research-based data on stroke are from medical backgrounds with adequate knowledge of stroke. Lastly, the accuracy and purpose of these sources are evaluated by delving further into the findings of a study from resources and its purpose. Hence, the five resources fulfill the CRAAP criteria, and nurses can utilize and apply them in their nursing practices.

    Conclusion

    Novice nurses require assistance from senior nurse experts in research of clinical problems like stroke. For this purpose, communication and collaboration strategies like the culture of inquiry, open communication, regular meetings, and virtual collaboration are required to encourage them to research and access resources. Hospital libraries, computer labs, and research rooms can be the ideal places within the workplace to complete nursing research on clinical problems, including stroke. Furthermore, five credible resources are identified which are relevant to stroke. These sources should provide evidence-based practices as the central heart of the studies is stroke and its diagnosis, treatment, management, and recovery. Furthermore, the criteria to evaluate the credibility of these sources is CRAAP criteria utilized by various healthcare providers.
